Patient E
Ann is a Colombian lady on her mid-fifties. She is established in the UK for almost 30 years and married to a Tunisian man who passed away recently. She has no children.
She had a normal childhood: nice and supportive parents, eight cheerful siblings.
Holidays, treats, and studies at the University.
She meets this man and marries him 28 years ago, and then they come to live in the UK. Her English is good and she has no issues to find a job. Therefore, she is facing a hopeful life.
The problems begin when the couple is by themselves as he soon starts abusing her.
The abuse is at all levels: psychological, emotional and sexual. Ann is in love with her husband so she tries to understand his moody behavior and excuses his verbal and physical abuse often. Every time, he feels sorry soon after the abuse and showers her in treats, presents and trips now and then. This behavior forced her to stay in her marriage without sharing her sorrow with anyone. Nobody would ever believe her story… being married to such a ‘loving husband’. Ann forgives him every time despite being harassed or forced.
The day we started our sessions, she was very emotional and tearful. She reported that was unable to cry for many months. Her husband had a heart attack and passed away a year ago all by himself in Tunisia (a day before flying to UK to reunite with Ann after a short trip to check his property in Tunisia). She was still in shock because he died alone, and she could not do anything to help him in his last moments. We centered our work on releasing the pain of the loss and the guilt of not being able to help. As the energies of guilt and loss were released, she felt calmer and at peace at the end of the healing session, able to come to terms with his departure. The next two weeks were better; she slept well and felt uplifted, more hopeful, and positive.
The second session falls on the anniversary of her cat’s death. A nice little friend who was 10 years and helped her go through some dark moments of her marriage. She was also tearful here. We worked around releasing the pain of the loss and understanding the concepts of life and death as part of our existence on earth, noticing that all is connected and we still have them in our hearts and memories. As these concepts were softly placed in her being, and the blockages removed, she felt comforted and at peace after the healing session.
The remaining two sessions were used to clear blockages and remove old beliefs of ‘not deserving’ (love, respect, success), reconnecting with her courage and strength to live and move forward. We also used the healing sessions to release stagnation, self-pity, and apathy after being abused for more than 25 years by her husband. She progressed well throughout the course of sessions feeling calmer and stronger every day, sensing her ‘new freedom’ while she is willing to build up her independence as a new professional counseling career. She is looking into comforting others as they overcome situations like hers, understanding that all difficult events in life help us become stronger.
Meditation was also suggested and offered to her at Maya Centre. She came to some of my classes and learned techniques to reduce the ‘chatty mind’, being able to remain more centered and at peace in her daily life.
At the end of the course of treatments, Ann feels much more herself, reconnecting with who she was some time ago, an assertive, successful, happy, and courageous person. Well done Ann!
